New ECE joins Lansdowne Preschool

McKay, new ECE“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” -Albert Einstein

Being inspired by seeing the world through the eyes of a child is essential for me. Working with and learning alongside children and experiencing the curiosity and excitement when a new discovery is made, in turn keeps me in touch with my inner child.

My name is Robbin McKay. I am originally from the Kootenays. At the age of eighteen I went overseas and throughout my journey found myself always surrounded by children. I have had the wonderful experience of working with children from many culturally diverse backgrounds. It has helped me to understand the sense of community that is so important no matter where you are in the world.

I look forward to continuing my journey with the children and co-workers of the Lansdowne Preschool family.

Sincerely,

Robbin McKay

Message from the ECE's

Sarah and Kim - The Early Childhood EducatorsWe are proud of our preschool in the heart of Victoria, BC. We love to be working and playing with children. As Early Childhood Educators (ECE's) we know that children learn everything they need to know through play. While playing, children practice social skills, develop fine and gross motor abilities, and are working their intellectual muscles..

At Lansdowne Preschool we have developed a routine because your child will feel more secure knowing what is coming next. Within that routine, a wide range of activities are offered that will appeal to every child and make every child feel successful. Supporting children while they learn through play means that our day is noisy, messy, active and really, really fun!

About Lansdowne Preschool

Lansdowne PreschoolLansdowne Cooperative Preschool is a parent participation preschool that has been in the Oaklands community for almost 50 years. We are currently recruiting three and four years and their families to join our dynamic preschool.

Parents assist a qualified Early Childhood Educator (ECE) in the classroom once every three to four weeks. The direct involvement of parents within the preschool setting creates a unique educational family experience.

Families who join Lansdowne Cooperative Preschool gain:

  • Support in parenting and an opportunity to meet other parents
  • The experience of assisting a professional ECE by actively participating in the pre-school program
  • Practical ideas for helping your child outside of school
  • Access to experts on child development at parent education workshops and regular preschool meetings
  • Ongoing communication with the ECE
  • The preschool is administered and maintained by the parents on a non-profit basis, which keeps preschool fees reasonable.
